Voici la réponse que j'ai eu de Craig concernant la campagne.
Hey Coco,
Glad you are still playing it-I’ve been trying to get a 2nd game organised in ours but real life (study+ work) has got in the way.
1. 1- The scenario suggested is the cauldron for part 3 and 4. Is it only a suggestion?
Yes- only a suggestion if you want to follow closer to the historical battle. The Soviets got surrounded and fought for a week before the Germans moved to attack another threatened section of the line, so either the players could agree to do that or could choose this or roll for it as normal.
In our 2nd battle for instance, my opponent has chosen not to do a Cauldron but rolled for it and we are having a Soviet fighting withdraw from the town instead.
2. 2 Also must the scenarios 3 and 4 be played on map 3 and 4 ?
-Not necessarily. It will depend on how the first battles go. If the Germans win them all then yes, you’d follow the natural progression up the tables, but if the Soviets win then it will change which table you fight on next. I numbered the tables (battles) to make it easier to follow (I hope). These are not the actual number of the games to be played though (i.e they don’t have to follow one after the other) as the game results will decide which table to play on next.
3. What happens if russian wins the part 3 of the campaign, do we have to play on map 4 (Radomyschi)or do the russian player move to Brusilov map 3? Or because it's a historical campaign the first 3 scenarios are played on the specified maps and then after we move to Kiev or Zhitomir depending of the german or russian victory?
The plan was that if the Soviets win on map 3 then the next battle would be on map 2 again (Brusilov) to represent the Soviets blunting the German attack and going back on the offensive. I gave 2 chances to play Lisowka at the beginning for just that reason otherwise if the Soviets won the first two battles then they would end the campaign very quickly- as it stands they could knock the Germans out in 3 wins in a row!
The historical notes were mainly as a guideline to what actually happened. The fun part of wargaming is to change history and seeing “what if” so I would play the battles as the results dictate. By winning early (so far) the Soviets have already changed the actual outcome and have forced the Germans on the defensive. It is now up to your German player to slow down the Soviet attack and try to counter attack (i.e win the next battle!)
What might happen is that games seesaw (probably around tables 2,3,4) as different players win so that it will be harder to get to the end tables. The end result of this will be a closer victory/loss in the overall campaign
Good luck
Craig
